A little back story about Greg- he has worked for notable chefs such as George Perrier, Jean-Marie La Croix and Chris Scarduzio after attending both the Art Institute of Philadelphia and the Culinary Institute of America. Chef Greg combines the freshest, finest ingredients to present simple and approachable, modern American foods. He is now executive chef at Avenue Kitchen located in our sister towns Villanova and Glen Mills. Uncomplicated, American cuisine, located in an urban beauty in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Avenue Kitchen presents an industrial chic interior adorned by white exposed brick and low lights that evoke a feeling of welcome and timelessness.

    Ed Garrubbo is the author of the highly popular cookbook Sunday Pasta, A Year Around the Table With Family and Friends, and a blog writer whose weekly posts are read by “pasta lovers” in over 70 countries worldwide.  Ed will share a few of his favorite dishes based on his dedication to the preservation of authentic Italian cooking.   • MAKE AN HERB WREATH – $50 per person
    Sunday, June 7, 11:00 – 12:00 noon. The aroma and look could be satisfying enough, but it gets better. If you like, allow the wreath to dry to keep as decoration, or snip the herbs to put into your favorite recipes.
  • CREATE A CASCADING ARRANGEMENT$50 per person Sunday, June 14, 11:00 – 12:00 noon. Create a cascading arrangement Also called a “Waterfall” arrangement; enjoy making a design that truly flows from the container.
  • GET TROPICAL – $50 per person Sunday, June 28, 11:00 – 12:00 noon. It’s getting hotter outside, so let’s bring a bit of the “tropics” inside too. See how weaving foliage and showcasing warm weather flowers become a showstopper any time of year.

May Chef Event at The Barn at VFF

Each month we bring in a local chef to The Barn where they teach a hands on cooking demonstration with different cooking styles, followed by a three course candle lit dinner. This month, on Thursday May 21, we welcome executive chef Ryan Sulikowski of Lotus Farm to Table in Media, PA.

A little background about Ryan… from his Polish grandmother’s kitchen to graduating from Le Cordon Bleu at the Atlantic Culinary Academy in Dover, NH to working at multiple esteemed eateries, Sulikowski has developed a rich and diverse culinary background. Sulikowski combines Mediterranean flavors and farm fresh sensibility with chilled soup and matched with a local heirloom celery sorbet; peaches and plums are paired with a vanilla bean sorbet, shortbread and white balsamic vinegar for a refreshing dessert. Sulikowski’s appreciation for sustainable, locally sourced, flavorful ingredients blends seamlessly with the values at the core of Lotus Farm to Table.
